Did you know that, on average, couples will spend about 6 years feeling unhappy in their relationship before seeking support?—Don’t Wait That Long!

It’s no secret that relationships take work. But too often, couples struggle in silence for years before reaching out for help. Research shows that, on average, couples spend six years feeling unhappy in their relationship before trying couples therapy. That’s six years of, at best, not enjoying your life or your partner as much as you could be and, at worst, frustration, miscommunication, and feeling disconnected.

You don’t have to wait for a crisis to invest in your relationship. Whether you’re facing serious challenges,  want to strengthen your connection, or have identified issues that might cause future potholes to form, couples therapy can help you communicate better, navigate conflict more effectively, and build a relationship that feels AND IS good for both of you.

How Couples Therapy Can Help

Every couple is different, and therapy isn’t just about fixing problems—it’s about building a relationship that works for both of you. Couples therapy can help you:

Improve communication and reduce misunderstandings before they escalate.
Rebuild trust and connection after conflict, emotional disconnection, or betrayal.
Navigate life transitions together, whether that’s moving in together, marriage, parenthood, career changes or health challenges.
Understand and work through differences in values, goals, and needs.
Develop better ways to manage conflict, so disagreements don’t turn into damaging fights.
Keep intimacy alive—emotionally and physically.
Strengthen your relationship foundation, whether you’ve been together for two months or twenty years.

Meet Our Couples Therapist – Mathew

Our lead couples therapist, Mathew, has extensive experience supporting couples from all walks of life. He takes an integrative, research-backed approach to relationship therapy, with a particular interest in working with neurodivergent couples.

As a late-identified neurodivergent therapist in a neurospicy relationship himself, he understands firsthand the unique challenges and strengths of those relationship dynamics—and how to navigate them in ways that foster connection, rather than conflict.

Whether you need ongoing support or a relationship tune-up, Mathew brings a down-to-earth, non-judgemental approach that helps couples feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Mathew draws from a range of evidence-based approaches, including:

  • The Gottman Method

A structured approach based on decades of relationship research.

  • Animal-Assisted Therapy & Attachment-Focused Work

Helping couples build trust, emotional safety, and deeper connection through relational and experiential techniques (as well as providing a low-pressure focus for those harder moments in sessions!)

  • Schema Therapy for Couples

Understanding how past experiences shape relationship patterns and emotional responses.

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for Couples

Supporting individuals and couples in processing past wounds that impact their relationship today.

  • Communication & Conflict Resolution Coaching

Practical, hands-on tools to break unhelpful cycles and improve connection.
